
What is Chocolate Ice Cream?

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Base
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, sugar, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Stir until smooth and sugar dissolves.
- Add chopped chocolate and stir until completely melted.
- Remove from heat.
Step 2: Make the Custard (Optional but gives creamy texture)
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks.
- Slowly add about ½ cup of the hot chocolate mixture to the yolks, whisking continuously (tempering the eggs).
- Then pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly (do not boil).
- Remove from heat.
Step 3: Finish the Mixture
- Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for 4–6 hours or overnight.
Step 4: Churn the Ice Cream
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn as per the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes).
- Once thickened, transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours for a firmer texture.

Ingredients:

- 1 can (400g) sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 100g melted dark chocolate

Method:
- Whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
- In another bowl, mix condensed milk, cocoa powder, melted chocolate, and vanilla.
- Fold whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
- Transfer to a container and freeze for 6–8 hours or overnight.
