What is Chocolate Ice Cream?
Chocolate Ice Cream is a creamy, frozen dessert made with milk, cream, sugar, and rich cocoa or melted chocolate. It’s a timeless classic and one of the most loved ice cream flavors around the world.

🧾 INGREDIENTS

🍦 Base Mixture:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

🍫 Chocolate Flavoring:

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 100g (about ½ cup) dark chocolate, chopped or chocolate chips
  • 4 large egg yolks (for custard-style richness – optional but recommended)

🧑‍🍳 INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Base

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, sugar, salt, and cocoa powder.
  2. Stir until smooth and sugar dissolves.
  3. Add chopped chocolate and stir until completely melted.
  4. Remove from heat.

Step 2: Make the Custard (Optional but gives creamy texture)

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks.
  2. Slowly add about ½ cup of the hot chocolate mixture to the yolks, whisking continuously (tempering the eggs).
  3. Then pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan.
  4. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly (do not boil).
  5. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Finish the Mixture

  1. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  2. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for 4–6 hours or overnight.

Step 4: Churn the Ice Cream

  1. Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn as per the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes).
  2. Once thickened, transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours for a firmer texture.
